Here’s what to do with your summer in Andorra

A summer escapade between tradition and modernity

The Andorra Land Art has for sole purpose to offer to the public a perfect symbiosis between nature, cultural wealth and Andorran heritage. The artistic installations scattered on exceptional sites or unusual places will surprise and startle you. However, an exhibition of pieces of art as chimerical and phantasmagorical as this one might seem, has for mission to question its public. The Andorra Land Art does not derogate from the appropriateness that is imposed by the art. In this way, these contemporary works have been distributed on sites carefully chosen to narrate the stories of Andorra and thus reinvent an imaginary that one would have thought forgotten, in perfect symbiosis with a more modern Andorra. This summer in Andorra, the second edition of this biennale takes shape on four sites

  • the Path of Human Rights
  • the Wool Factory
  • "Els Miradors" (the viewpoints)
  • the Ras Area

The Path of Human Rights

The Path of Human Rights pays homage to the refugees, who from both sides of our borders took the "Andorran way" which passes through the Pyrenees, in search of their freedom. This route is currently being promoted as "Andorra’s healthy path of human rights" by the Government Ministry for Health and City Councils, with the support of the WHO which has vouched for the cross-disciplinary nature and simplicity of this initiative, which combines the promotion of healthy physical exercise, and dissemination of Andorra’s heritage and respect for human rights. It is along this route that the majority of art works are placed for this international biennial edition of Andorra Land Art this summer for the greatest enjoyment of the public that can enjoy a healthy walk and admire the art.

The "Miradors"

Don’t wonder anymore what to do in Andorra this summer because you cannot come here without seeing this spectacular spot! This area where the Mirador Roc Del Quer has been opened to the public, offers to the tourists an exceptional panoramic viewpoint at the heart of a preserved nature, one that is hard to find somewhere else. The contemporary pieces of art of this international biennal Andorra Land Art are immersed in this marvel of nature.

The Ras Area

Here, the Andorra Land Art has also something to say, or more precisely, a message to broadcast: it wanted to demonstrate how art, creation, and fauna are one of the same. Located near the Lac d’Engolasters, this space is the occasion for artists to create in total freedom pieces of art during the entire biennal. It is good to know also that this space welcomes and offers activities to students from all over Andorra. And why not enjoy your visit to this site in Andorra this summer to take a walk around this charming lake?

The Wool Factory

The Wool Factory, a historic building in the upper area of Escaldes-Engordany, closed and abandoned for many years now, is one of the most significant remains of Andorra’s textile industry after more than a century. The historical building is a real source of inspiration for the contemporary artists who have left an imprint that is both magical and mysterious. Here, in summer, the Andorra Land Art welcomes and will carry out projections and video-art fixtures that create an atmosphere in perfect adequacy with this place and its old-fashioned charm.
