FEDA Culture

The History of Electricity in Andorra

FEDA is fully committed to Andorran society and, especially, to the promotion of culture, education, scientific dissemination and protection of national heritage. From here projects such as the creation of the MW Electricity Museum, the didactic itinerary of the Engolasters Hydroelectric Way or the implementation of lighting in emblematic buildings emerge. It also works together with other institutions in the form of sponsorship to carry out initiatives in the field of dissemination of knowledge and national heritage.

FEDA contributes actively in the sponsorship of different cultural activities in Andorra. Among them is responsible for the construction of the first road network in our country at the beginning of the 20th century.

The electricity museum is located in the Encamp hydroelectric plant and explains the historical evolution of the electricity generation process in Andorra. Also in the same plant is the beginning of the road to the dam Engolasters, a pleasant walk in the middle of nature, where you can discover the origins of electricity production in Andorra and how it transformed our society. A guided tour recommended for all audiences.
